CLI Command Groups

Every public verdictan command, grouped by task, with a link to the page that covers it in depth. New to the CLI? Start with the CLI Overview to install it and sign in. For the exact options of any command, run it with --help.

Bootstrap, auth, and diagnostics

CommandUse
verdictan initCreate a starter policy-config.yaml and one example policy test in a new project
verdictan auth loginSign in and store a CLI session for one profile
verdictan auth logoutDelete the stored session of one profile
verdictan auth whoamiShow the identity and permissions that the API resolves
verdictan auth token createCreate a scoped API token with IAM role bindings
verdictan auth token listList issued API tokens
verdictan auth token revokeRevoke one API token
verdictan doctorExamine API connectivity, the config file, the state directory, and local gateway instances

Policy authoring and rollout

CommandUse
verdictan policy lintValidate a policy config or an IAM policy document
verdictan policy testRun pack tests and inline testing suites
verdictan policy pushValidate a file, save a configuration version, and deploy it through an agent. Requires CLI 0.1.14 or later.
verdictan policy deployRequest a rollout from a source gateway to target gateways. The current API rejects the gateways with Unknown gateway target. Deploy in Configurations instead.
verdictan policy diffCalculate a dry-run reconcile plan for IAM policy documents
verdictan policy applyReconcile reviewed IAM policy documents to the control plane
verdictan policy evaluateSimulate an action and resource VDT against local or remote IAM policies
verdictan policy exportExport remote IAM policies to YAML or JSON

verdictan policy works on two kinds of document. For a gateway's policy-config.yaml, use lint, test, push, and deploy. For IAM policy documents, use lint, diff, apply, evaluate, and export. Manage configuration in a file walks through authoring and verifying a policy config end to end.

Details: Policy Lifecycle, verdictan policy lint, and verdictan policy test.

Gateway runtime and lifecycle

CommandUse
verdictan gateway runStart a gateway in the calling process for the supported request families
verdictan gateway checkResolve the config, provider credentials, routing, and policy chain without a server
verdictan gateway createCreate a local supervisor definition with listen and upstream settings

verdictan gateway inspectExamine one local gateway and its recent lifecycle history
verdictan gateway configRead the config endpoint of an active gateway by URL
verdictan gateway reloadSend a reload request to an active gateway by URL
verdictan gateway diffCompare the active state of a named gateway with its saved service state
verdictan gateway revertSend a revert request to an active gateway by URL
verdictan gateway reconcileReconcile one named gateway, or all known gateways with --all
verdictan gateway installInstall a local gateway as a user service
verdictan gateway startStart an installed gateway service
verdictan gateway statusShow the service-manager status of an installed gateway
verdictan gateway stopStop an installed gateway service
verdictan gateway uninstallRemove the installed gateway service definition
verdictan gateway upgrade plan, apply, status, rollbackPlan, apply, or examine a runtime binary upgrade. Restore the previous version if necessary

Details: verdictan gateway run, verdictan gateway, and verdictan config validate.

Profiles, regions, and locality

CommandUse
verdictan configure set region <region> --profile <profile>Save a default region for one profile in ~/.verdictan/config.yaml
verdictan configure get region --profile <profile>Read the default region of one profile
verdictan configure list-profilesShow the profile names from the config file and stored credentials
verdictan regions listList the available regions with sovereignty class and API endpoints
verdictan regions useWrite the default region for the active CLI profile
verdictan regions switchAlias for verdictan regions use
verdictan regions currentShow the resolved region, its source, the API endpoint, and the requested scope
verdictan regions statusShow the status of each region

For API-backed commands, use the command's own --region <region> option. The top-level verdictan --region <region> ... form exists for compatibility with the local gateway and runtime, which read the region from the process environment. verdictan regions list also accepts --enabled, --disabled, --group <group_key>, --sovereignty-class <class>, and --json.

A profile's region only chooses where API-backed CLI commands go. Gateway and provider locality live in policy-config.yaml, and a profile default never overrides them.

Removed config commands

verdictan config show, config migrate, and config diff are not public commands. Use verdictan configure ... for profile defaults, verdictan regions ... for locality, and a specific diff such as verdictan gateway diff or verdictan policy diff.

Details: verdictan regions and Regions Overview.

MCP on a published hostname

MCP is not a verdictan subcommand. The gateway serves it at /mcp on a published agent hostname. Gateway MCP Surface covers the transport, its limits, and how hosted MCP differs from runtime bridge targets and declarative tool-server metadata.
